8th grade - 1) Please bring at least 5 reasons it is important to study history with you to class. How does the history impact you, your family, our nation and world? Please explain your answers completely and be able to share with your classmates. You may use any resource to come up with reasons. (mom, dad, internet, your textbook etc.)
2) Find at least 2 quotes about the importance of history and explain them in your words.
You will be using and sharing the information in 1&2 in class please come prepared!
7th Grade - DUE on Friday Sept 7th (Students should be developing sentences wednesday night)
1) Please complete the acrostic "History" that you started in class using the information you and your classmates have brainstormed.
2) At the bottom of your acrostic include at least 2 quotes that talk about the importance of history. On back of poster please explain why you chose the quote and what it means in your words. (you can get your quotes from the internet or textbook, - but you must be able to explain them)
here are four examples
1. "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" If we don't learn from our mistakes we will will make them again
2. "Do not look where you fell but where you slipped." We must use our knowledge of the past to understand the problems we face today and why we have these problems
3. "A stream cannot rise above its source" the people we are today is often based on those who came before (our source) there fore it is important to know our past to see how high we can climb
4. "When we know the past we are no longer trapped by it" Knowing our source allows us to rise above the limits and failures of the past
