**Change** Homework due Thur. Sept 20th

8th Grade -
Please create one of the following two journal entries in your hw notebook (use classwork info and text pages 303-306) Minimum 1 page in Length
1) Pretend you are a member of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Using what you have learned in class create a journal entry of an imaginary day exploring the west. What do you see, hear and experience? What adventures do you have? Who and what do you meet? What do you learn that is new?
2) Pretend you are an American writing about President Jefferson's decision to purchase the Louisiana Territory. Do you think Jefferson had the right or power to make this decision for you? Was it a good decision? Explain negatives and positives. Should we be exploring all the way to the Pacific?

7th Grade -
In class we looked at four Native American creation legends. Please create a legend of your own in your HW notebook
. It must be at least one page long.
1) Your should be based on the charts we worked with in class on Monday. Please include answers to all the questions we discussed on your chart in you legend.
2) Your legend should be somehow connected to the migration theories we worked with on wednesday.

HW for night of Sept. 7th (7& 8 Grade)

7 & 8 Grade- Be prepared for a classroom quiz on Wednesday Sept 12th.
1) Study and be able to completely explain at least 5 reasons why we study history
2) Memorize our class acronym " SCREAM GP." You will have to explain what each letter stands for and give at least 3 examples for each letter.

HW for night of September 5th

8th grade - 1) Please bring at least 5 reasons it is important to study history with you to class. How does the history impact you, your family, our nation and world? Please explain your answers completely and be able to share with your classmates. You may use any resource to come up with reasons. (mom, dad, internet, your textbook etc.)
2) Find at least 2 quotes about the importance of history and explain them in your words.

You will be using and sharing the information in 1&2 in class please come prepared!


7th Grade - DUE on Friday Sept 7th (Students should be developing sentences wednesday night)
1) Please complete the acrostic "History" that you started in class using the information you and your classmates have brainstormed.
2) At the bottom of your acrostic include at least 2 quotes that talk about the importance of history. On back of poster please explain why you chose the quote and what it means in your words. (you can get your quotes from the internet or textbook, - but you must be able to explain them)
here are four examples
1. "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" If we don't learn from our mistakes we will will make them again
2. "Do not look where you fell but where you slipped." We must use our knowledge of the past to understand the problems we face today and why we have these problems
3. "A stream cannot rise above its source" the people we are today is often based on those who came before (our source) there fore it is important to know our past to see how high we can climb
4. "When we know the past we are no longer trapped by it" Knowing our source allows us to rise above the limits and failures of the past

Homework for night of Tuesday Sept. 4

HW 7th Grade- Please investigate the reasons we study history. You may use the interenet, your parents, your textbook, or even your friends as a resource. What are the many reasons we need to remember the past? Please come to class with at least 5 different reasons you believe history is important to you, your family, our nation and our world. We will be sharing and expanding our answers in class so be prepared with complete answers.

Dear parents, your child has recieved a textbook with a W# on the bottom. Please look over the textbook with your student to become familiar with it.
